Selection of the most important crops
In the selection of the list of most important crops is not only the
current situation taken into account but also the future opportunities.
The production of sugarbeat is not so important as there is only one factory
that can process the sugarbeat.
At present the production of patatoes is low due to the lack of irrigation
but it should be considered as an important crop for Somogy.
The production of sunflowers has become low due to the low price on the market.
On the other hand is sunflower not so sensitive for the soil and weather conditions.
The production of rape seat is interesting because it is an early crop and it opens
the possibilities to plant winter wheat after the harvesting. It is also interesting
for the nitrogen in the soil.
In general in Somogy it is not possible to have two crops in one season
because of the fact that during summer, the young crops can not grow due to
the in general dry weather conditions.
In general, all the land that is not used for agriculture and that is not forest or
lake is grassland. About 60% is productive and the other 40% is for protection of the soil.
In the future it is expected to become more important due to nature development.
